So there I was sitting and waiting for Steve Morse to come on stage. This guitar legend that influenced another guitar hero, John Petrucci.  According to Petrucci, the song that changed Petrucci’s life was a Dixie Dregs recording called “The Bash.” I had heard many Steve Morse songs, but I never heard him live and I wanted to see what Petrucci sees in him.
The crowd in the lobby was one of the most diverse crowds I’ve ever seen.  While Steve Morse and Joe Satriani were scheduled to play Symphony Hall, the play Harmony, which has music written by Barry Manilow, was scheduled to play next door at the Alliance Stage.  It was fairly easy to tell whom one was there to see:  People with various guitar shredder shirts and the casually dressed go to the room on the left.  Those dressed in suits and gowns and tuxes go to the room on the right.
